Lincoln-Way Central boys basketball earned a 38-37 victory over Stagg in conference play, surviving a defensive battle with a late push to secure the one-point win at home.
The game was played Feb. 13 at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, where the Knights and Chargers traded momentum throughout a tightly contested matchup.
Both teams struggled to generate consistent offense early as defensive pressure dictated the pace of play. Lincoln-Way Central stayed composed despite the low-scoring nature of the contest, relying on disciplined possessions and strong rebounding efforts to remain within striking distance. The Knights found timely scoring late in the fourth quarter, capitalizing on key defensive stops to gain separation in the closing moments. Stagg attempted to answer down the stretch, but Central’s ability to manage possessions and finish defensive sequences proved decisive in securing the narrow victory.
