The Lincoln-Way Central boys track and field team delivered a commendable performance at the Hinsdale Central Invitational on May 9, with several athletes achieving personal bests and earning medals against top regional competition.
According to the event results, Deacon Weber led the Knights with a first-place finish in the discus, achieving a personal record throw of nearly 160 feet. On the track, middle-distance runners Bryce Counihan and Braden Hoff impressed in the 800-meter run. Counihan captured second place with a time of 1:55, while Hoff followed close behind in fifth at 1:56, both marking personal bests.
Jack Galminas continued the team’s success in distance events by placing third in the 1,600-meter run with a personal best of 4:21.
The invitational featured schools from across the Chicago area, including Hinsdale South, Lyons Township, Lincoln-Way West, Oak Park-River Forest, and Palatine. The Knights tied for the team score with 69.9 points.
Head coach Dustin Waddell praised his athletes for their performances and noted the team’s momentum heading into the Southwest Suburban Conference meet on May 15. “Run fast, throw far, and jump high,” Waddell said. “We’re ready for conference.”
