Lincoln-Way Central senior Sydney Zale enters the season as a key presence for the Knights’ girls soccer team, bringing endurance, leadership, and composure to one of the team’s most demanding positions.
As a center midfielder, Zale covers significant ground each match and relies on high-intensity practices to maintain the fitness required for the role.
“I just make sure to push myself in every rep at practice,” Zale said. “We talk about emptying our tank — leaving everything out on the field.”
Zale hopes to leave a lasting impression by being remembered as a dependable teammate who can be trusted in difficult moments while helping maintain strong chemistry across the roster.
“I want my teammates to remember me as someone who can be relied on in tough games,” she said.
The Knights prepare for rivalry matchups through detailed discussions and strategic planning, while still approaching each game with the same level of focus.
“We talk about strategy and who to watch for,” Zale said. “Rival games just make it more fun — I get more excited.”
Zale also aims to support younger players by fostering a positive environment where effort is valued and mistakes are part of development.
“I want them to feel comfortable making mistakes as long as they’re giving their all,” she said.
With her team-first mindset and leadership, Zale hopes to help guide Lincoln-Way Central toward a successful season in her final year.
