Season opens with 3–0 girls soccer victory against Solorio

The Lincoln-Way Central Knights defeated the Solorio Academy Sun Warriors 3–0 in a girls varsity soccer tournament match.

The match took place at Lincoln-Way Central High School on March 18 and marked the opening of the season for both teams. The Knights controlled the match from the opening whistle, taking a 1–0 lead into halftime before adding two more goals in the second half to secure the shutout victory. Lincoln-Way Central’s defense remained disciplined throughout, limiting Solorio’s scoring opportunities and maintaining possession across the midfield. The offense showed balance and efficiency, capitalizing on key chances to extend the lead and close out the match. The 3–0 result highlighted the Knights’ strong start to the season on both ends of the field.

The Knights finished their 2024-25 season with a record of 17–4 and an .810 winning percentage. They placed third in conference play at 6–2 and were especially dominant at home, going 9–2 while outscoring opponents 68–13 across all matches. LWC ended last season on a one-match skid but remained one of the area’s most balanced defensive units, showing consistency both at home and on the road.

Solorio is coming off an equally impressive 2024–25 season, finishing 16–5 with a .762 winning percentage and a perfect 5–0 record to win their conference.

Looking ahead, Lincoln-Way Central will host Downers Grove North in a non-conference match on Saturday, March 28, at 11:30 a.m. This will be the first meeting between these two programs, according to MaxPreps.

Lincoln-Way Central High School serves grades nine through twelve with an enrollment of 1,968 students during the 2019-2020 school year. It is located in New Lenox in Will County. Of those students, grade eleven had the highest concentration with 23.5 percent enrolled; grade twelve accounted for 23.2 percent; grade ten for 23.1 percent; and grade nine for 21.4 percent. The student body was made up of approximately 85.6 percent white students, with Hispanic students representing about 9.5 percent; black students and Asian students each accounted for about 1.6 percent during that period, according to the Illinois Report Card.
