Lincoln-Way Central boys basketball earned a 49-40 victory over Thornton Fractional South, securing a strong road performance with disciplined defense and timely scoring.
The game was played Feb. 14 at Thornton Fractional South High School, where the Knights controlled the tempo against a physical Red Wolves squad.
Lincoln-Way Central relied on defensive consistency throughout the contest, limiting scoring opportunities and forcing difficult possessions across all four quarters. The Knights worked to create separation during the second half, turning defensive stops into efficient offensive trips while maintaining composure in a low-scoring matchup. Patient ball movement and strong rebounding efforts helped Central protect its advantage late as Thornton Fractional South attempted to rally. The Knights’ ability to manage possessions and execute in key moments proved decisive in securing the nine-point victory.
Senior Alex Panos provided veteran leadership for Lincoln-Way Central, supported by fellow seniors Drew Woodburn, Nolan Morrill, Nate Gehrke, Micah Evans, Andrew McIntyre, Cooper Riedl and Elwood Chesta. Their experience helped steady the Knights on both ends of the floor during critical stretches of the game.
