The Lincoln Way Central Knights girls’ varsity volleyball team secured a victory over Plainfield North on Saturday at the Great Lakes Center, bringing their season record to 2-2.
According to reports, the Knights engaged in a competitive three-set match, ultimately winning with scores of 25-16, 22-25, and 15-10. Senior Ella Thompson led the team’s offense with nine kills and three blocks. Penny Smith made significant contributions with five aces, four kills, and nine digs. Junior setter Kaitlyn Hedrich played a crucial role by recording 26 assists, three kills, and five digs.
Coach Bernhard praised the team’s resilience: “The girls stayed focused and trusted each other. It was a full team effort,” he said.
The match featured a challenging second set where Plainfield North tested the Knights’ limits. However, Lincoln Way Central rallied in the third set to secure the win.
Looking ahead, the Knights aim to maintain their momentum in their upcoming game against Waubonsie Valley on August 30. With contributions from multiple players and a balanced attack strategy, Lincoln Way Central is positioned for continued success early in the season.
