Lincoln-Way Central’s boys volleyball team secured a victory against Lockport on Tuesday night, overcoming an initial setback to win the match in three sets: 20-25, 25-18, 25-15.
According to the team’s performance report, after losing the first set, the Knights improved their play with aggressive net actions and consistent defense. This strategy enabled them to win the subsequent two sets and achieve a Southwest Suburban Conference (SWSC) victory. The result brings Lincoln-Way Central’s record to 15-9 overall and 1-1 in SWSC competition.
Leading contributors for the Knights included Cooper Riedl and Dylan Brannigan, each with nine kills. Braeden Fawcett also contributed significantly with eight kills, aiding in the team’s comeback. Head coach Mary Brown commended her players for maintaining focus and composure despite early challenges.
“The boys fought through adversity tonight,” Brown said. “I’m proud of how they adjusted and came together as a team.”
The match took place at Lockport High School, where Lockport initially dominated but could not sustain their lead as Lincoln-Way Central’s offense gained momentum in the final two sets. The Knights are scheduled to compete against Lincoln-Way West later this week.
