The Lincoln-Way Central girls’ water polo team marked Senior Night with a significant 8-5 victory over Naperville North on Tuesday, enhancing their season record to 20-4.

Senior Angelina Platos led the Knights by scoring four goals, while Jaylyn Kucera contributed two and Marissa Culver added one. Head coach Pam Shaughnessy commended the team’s comprehensive effort in securing the win.

According to Shaughnessy, “Senior Night is already such an amazing event, but to have the win over an amazing program like Naperville North was just the boost our team needed to keep the energy alive.” She further noted, “We have not won a game against that program since I started at LWC.”

The Knights maintain an undefeated record at home and are building momentum as they approach the postseason. The victory held particular significance due to the history between the two programs. Shaughnessy acknowledged this by saying, “Tonight both programs took home a win,” highlighting the high level of competition.

Lincoln-Way Central is set to return to action on Thursday against Waubonsie Valley. With consistent team play and strong leadership from upperclassmen, the Knights seem well-prepared for a deep postseason run as they continue their impressive 2025 campaign.
