Lincoln-Way Central sent one of its deepest girls contingents in program history to the prestigious Distance Night in Palatine, with nine athletes delivering strong performances across the 800, 1600, and 3200 meters.

The meet was held on Saturday, April 25, at Palatine High School.

The night was headlined by junior Mia Forystek, who captured the 800-meter Main Event title in 2:10.91, a personal best and “running the fastest time in the state of Illinois,” according to Coach Matt Smith. Teammate Katie Petrosky added another breakthrough in the same race, running 2:15.47, also a personal best.

In the undercard sections, Keira Faxel continued the Knights’ momentum with a 2:20.45 PR, while Ana Dal Ponte followed with a season-best 2:23.62. The distance crew added even more depth in the 1600, where Macy Gallagher ran 5:24.19, and Jillian Davies posted a season-best 5:34.48.

The 3200 meters brought two of the team’s biggest drops of the night. Grace Mathis surged to an 11:14.92 PR, and Brea Counihan delivered a strong 11:19.48 SB in the Main Event. Freshman Ava Dughetti rounded out the group with a 12:03.12 PR, based on the Athletic.net results.

Together, the Knights produced nine qualifying performances, highlighted by four personal bests and two season bests, underscoring the team’s rising strength as the championship season approaches.
