Lincoln-Way Central boys wrestling opened postseason competition with a strong showing, finishing second as a team at the IHSA Regional while advancing 10 wrestlers out of the tournament.
The regional meet took place Jan. 31 during IHSA postseason competition.
The Knights produced multiple high finishes across the lineup to anchor their second-place team result. Byrd claimed a regional title at 175 pounds, Vogt earned first place at 190, and Aiden Hennings captured the championship at 285 to lead Lincoln-Way Central’s scoring output.
Additional podium finishes helped build depth throughout the day. Nape placed second at 150 pounds, while Valent finished third at 106. Fifer added a third-place result at 113, Rogers followed with a third-place finish at 132, and Hoselton placed third at 138. Wrobel contributed a third-place finish at 144, and Wooten rounded out the group with a third-place showing at 215.
Lincoln-Way Central’s ability to advance wrestlers across multiple weight classes highlighted the team’s balance and consistency throughout the tournament. The Knights battled through a competitive field, securing advancement opportunities while posting one of their strongest overall postseason performances of the season.
