Lincoln-Way Central boys’ soccer team has made a strong start to the season, positioning itself as a contender for the top spot in the SouthWest Suburban Conference. The team boasts an 11-3 record and a defense that has conceded only four goals throughout the season.
According to current league standings, Lincoln-Way Central is second with a 4-1 record, trailing only the unbeaten Lockport. The Knights have excelled on the road, securing victories in all five away matches through steady possession and an organized defense. Recent wins against Lincoln-Way West on September 27, with a score of 2-1, and Homewood-Flossmoor on October 1, with a 2-0 shutout, highlight their ability to clinch close games while maintaining defensive strength.
The team’s performance includes notable victories over Lemont, Andrew, and Lincoln-Way East, which have bolstered their confidence as they face upcoming conference challenges. With an efficient scoring tally of 18 goals and a consistently strong defense, Lincoln-Way Central stands out at the high school level.
The Knights are set to play at Bradley-Bourbonnais on October 4 before facing Sandburg at home on October 7. These matches are crucial as they strive to maintain pressure on Lockport in the league standings.
