Lincoln-Way Central maintained its unblemished record with a 3-2 victory over Marist in a non-conference softball game on Monday. The Knights’ overall record improved to 9-0, including a 2-0 mark in Southwest Suburban Conference play.
According to the team’s performance, Lincoln-Way Central benefited from significant offensive contributions. Kayla Doerre recorded a solo home run and an RBI, while Jalese Hays also contributed with a home run and an RBI. Ellie McLaughlin added to the scoring with an RBI.
Senior pitcher Lisabella Dimitrijevic delivered a commanding performance, pitching a complete game. She allowed only three hits and one earned run over seven innings, striking out 13 batters. “Happy that the girls were able to come out on top in this game,” head coach Jeff Tarala said. “Hopefully they can use this game and gain confidence from it, but at the same time become tougher players and a team. This was a tough, hard-fought game.”
The Knights aim to continue their strong start as they prepare for a conference road game against Homewood-Flossmoor on Tuesday.
