Lincoln-Way Central couldn’t keep pace in its season debut, taking a 16–7 loss to Lincoln-Way West.
The game was played on Monday, March 9, at Lincoln-Way West.
Lincoln-Way Central, which dropped both meetings with West last spring — 15–13 on March 10 and 23–8 on April 8 — showed its trademark resilience in the season opener. The Knights battled to stay close, but West’s tempo and the combined 10 goals from Noah Kueltzo and Tyler Stasiak pushed the Warriors ahead early and kept Central from mounting a steady run. The teams meet again on April 7 at 5 p.m., giving Central another shot at the Warriors.
Looking ahead, Lincoln-Way Central will travel to Lockport on Thursday, March 19, for a key conference matchup scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
The Knights will be aiming to build on last year’s success against the Porters, when then-juniors Jack Mroz and Tyler Lambert delivered standout performances. Each scored four goals in the March 20 contest, powering Lincoln-Way Central to a decisive victory in that home conference game, 18-9.
The Knights’ 2025–26 roster, posted on the team’s website, reflects a balanced mix of size, speed, and versatility. In goal, #1A Gavin Schindler (6′7) anchors the defense with his imposing presence. The wings feature quick, skilled players such as #3 Dylan Ragland (5′8), #14 Dylan Ford (6′1), and #15 Griffin Faxel (5′7), while #4 Joshua Torri (5′6, 135) adds agility in a dual Wing/Flat role. At center, #5 Daniel Fiske (6′5) and #20 Caleb Sturm (6′3) bring strength to the hole set. Depth comes from versatile contributors like #9 Leo Kornmuller (5′8), #10 Souya Kubota (5′7), #11 Devin Canavan (5′8), #12 Matthew Feith (5′6), and #17 Kyle Hop (6′0), ensuring the Knights have reliable options across every position.
