Lincoln-Way Central showcased a strong team performance on September 13 at a significant girls’ swim meet, securing second place overall while consistently challenging Oswego Co-Op from start to finish.
According to the results, the Knights accumulated 282 points with five gold medals, four silvers, and two bronzes, narrowing the gap on Oswego Co-Op’s winning total of 305. Lincoln-Way Central also surpassed conference rivals Sandburg (254), Stagg (145), Lincoln-Way West (141), and Lemont (105), highlighting the team’s depth and consistency.
Emma Rapcan led the Knights with three golds and a silver, scoring 32 points and achieving the meet’s top National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association ratings at 114.5. Hannah Quigley contributed two golds and two silvers for 29 points, while Genevieve Dal Ponte secured a gold and two silvers to enhance Central’s medal tally. Ella Flynn added a gold and two bronzes, while Elizabeth Ewanic earned a silver and bronze to complete the Knights’ scoring efforts.
Despite Oswego Co-Op’s five golds and extensive roster, Lincoln-Way Central’s balanced lineup maintained pressure throughout the meet. With several swimmers posting notable times, the Knights remain optimistic about their progress as they approach championship season.
