Lincoln-Way Central stayed unbeaten with a 26-14 win over Providence Catholic on Friday night, showcasing a dominant rushing attack and a physical defense that controlled the game from start to finish.
The Knights piled up more than 500 yards of total offense, including 360 on the ground. Senior running back Justin Cobbs was the workhorse, carrying 25 times for 215 yards. His ability to break tackles and extend plays kept the offense rolling after fellow back Luke Tingley exited early with an injury.
Central’s offensive line paved the way, consistently creating running lanes and protecting the quarterback. The Knights also displayed balance through the air, mixing in timely passes to keep the Celtics’ defense off balance.
Defensively, Central held Providence to just 14 points, swarming to the ball and limiting explosive plays. The unit’s ability to win at the line of scrimmage and pressure the quarterback allowed the Knights to dictate the tempo all night.
With the win, Central improves to 2-0 and continues to look like one of the area’s most complete teams. The Knights’ blend of power, depth, and execution has them well-positioned heading into conference play.
