The Lincoln-Way Central Knights competed alongside the Lincoln-Way West Warriors in a competitive varsity boys indoor track and field meet, delivering several standout performances across multiple events.
The meet highlighted the efforts of student-athletes from both schools. Overall, Lincoln-Way Central placed eighth while Lincoln-Way West finished third. Despite the team result, Central recorded standout achievements, including a first-place finish in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 7:56.25 by Cian Scanlon, Mekhai Wright, Ronin Borgeson, and Bryce Counihan. Jace Crowhurst led the 400 meter group with a seventh-place finish at 53.27 seconds, followed by Alec Demma in eighth at 53.32 seconds. The 4×400 relay team secured an eighth-place finish in a competitive field. In sprints, Michael Pekovitch earned a top-10 finish in the 60 meter dash and Will Luoma achieved a personal best. The Knights also had their lead thrower included in the top ten for shot put, demonstrating depth across events against strong competition.
Lincoln-Way Central High School serves grades nine through twelve and had an enrollment of 1,968 students during the 2019-2020 school year. It is located in New Lenox and Will County, according to Illinois Report Card.
Out of these students, grade eleven had the highest concentration with 23.5 percent enrolled during that period; grade twelve accounted for 23.2 percent; grade ten made up 23.1 percent; and grade nine comprised 21.4 percent of total enrollment, according to Illinois Report Card.
Demographically, Lincoln-Way Central High School was composed of 85.6 percent white students, 1.6 percent black students, 9.5 percent Hispanic students, and 1.6 percent Asian students during the same academic year as reported by Illinois Report Card.
