Lincoln-Way Central girls’ basketball team has commenced the season with aspirations to build on recent achievements under the guidance of Coach Dave Campanile. Over the past eight seasons, Campanile has led the program to a 138-93 record.
According to team statistics, the Knights have achieved a 690-462 overall record in their 35 years of competition and aim to maintain their competitive edge in Class 4A.
Key returning players anchor this year’s roster, led by seniors Olivia Gehrke (Guard, 5′8″), Aubrey Birmingham (Guard, 5′3″), Brooke Katzmann (Guard, 5′7″), and Scarlett Abramowicz (Guard, 5′6″). These veteran guards bring experience, leadership, and scoring ability to the team. Their presence alongside other returning contributors provides Campanile with a balanced roster capable of executing on both ends of the court.
The Knights’ program emphasizes disciplined defense, smart offensive execution, and team cohesion. These traits have resulted in multiple regional titles and deep postseason runs over the years. With senior leadership in both backcourt and frontcourt positions, Lincoln-Way Central is positioned to make a strong push this season and add to its tradition of success in girls’ basketball.
