Lincoln-Way Central falls to Sandburg in straight sets

The Lincoln-Way Central girls’ volleyball team was defeated in a two-set match against Sandburg, with scores of 25-18 and 25-21, on Tuesday night.

The match occurred on October 7, 2025, at Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Illinois. Despite the loss, the Knights had notable performances from Penny Smith and Ella Thompson. Smith recorded five kills, a .500 hitting efficiency, two aces, a 2.33 passer rating, and nine digs. Thompson contributed nine kills with a .421 hitting percentage and one block. The Knights made efforts to stay competitive in each set but were unable to overcome Sandburg’s strong serving and front-row attack.

According to available records, Lincoln-Way Central now holds a 16-7 overall record as they prepare for their next match. The Knights will return home to face Lockport on Thursday, October 9, 2025, aiming to recover and regain momentum in conference play.
