The Lincoln-Way Central boys’ soccer team engaged in a spirited contest but ultimately fell short, losing 4–2 to Lockport in a conference match.
According to the match report, the game featured two of the area’s leading programs and was characterized by continuous action. The encounter took place on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, where a supportive home crowd gathered to cheer for the Knights.
Lockport initiated the scoring with early offensive pressure, taking advantage of quick counterattacks to secure a 2–1 lead by halftime. Lincoln-Way Central responded with determination in the second half, creating multiple scoring opportunities and maintaining possession for extended periods. However, Lockport added two late goals to thwart the Knights’ comeback attempt.
Connor Pate led the Knights’ offense by converting a header from a well-placed corner kick delivered by Chuck Stevens, providing an early boost for Central. Midfielder Evan Krol contributed the second goal with a precise strike from outside the box midway through the second half. Defensively, goalkeeper Ryan Laskowski made several crucial saves to keep Lincoln-Way Central competitive against one of the state’s highest-scoring teams.
“Lockport is a strong, disciplined side, but I thought our boys showed real composure and effort,” said head coach Mark Walsh. “We created good chances, moved the ball well, and kept fighting until the final whistle.”
With this loss, Lincoln-Way Central’s record stands at 13–4 overall and 6–2 in conference play. They remain among the top teams in the standings as postseason play approaches. The Knights aim to recover when they travel to face Blue Island Eisenhower on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
