Devin Canavan delivered a record-breaking performance for Lincoln-Way Central by setting new pool and school marks in diving with a historic scoring night.
The meet was held Jan. 16 at the Lincoln-Way Central pool.
Canavan posted a score of 308.7 in the six-dive competition, establishing the highest six-dive total ever recorded at the LWC facility and breaking both the pool and school records in the event. He later added to his standout performance by winning the 11-dive timed finals with a score of 395.90, the top overall total of the meet. The senior’s consistency and degree of difficulty across all rounds allowed him to separate from the field and produce one of the strongest diving performances in program history. His 395.90 total in the 11-dive format further cemented his place atop the standings and capped a night in which he led the entire field in scoring.
The record-setting totals highlighted Canavan’s ability to perform under pressure and added another milestone to the Lincoln-Way Central swim and dive record book, setting new standards for both the pool and the program.
Up next, Canavan will compete at the IHSA Boys State Championship, scheduled for Feb. 27–28 in Westmont.
