Lincoln-Way Central girls cheer capped a strong postseason run with a fifth-place finish at the IHSA Class 3A State Finals, advancing from Friday preliminaries and improving its placement in Saturday’s final round.
The state finals took place Feb. 6–7 during IHSA Class 3A championship competition.
Lincoln-Way Central qualified for the finals by placing sixth in Friday’s preliminary round with a score of 93.60, earning one of the top 10 advancing spots in a 25-team field. The Knights finished just behind Lincoln-Way West in prelims and ahead of Dundee-Crown, Plainfield North, and Marist to secure their place in Saturday’s finals.
In the final round, Lincoln-Way Central elevated its performance and climbed to fifth overall, posting a score of 94.40. The Knights finished behind Lincoln-Way East, Lockport, Edwardsville, and Schaumburg while outperforming Hampshire, Dundee-Crown, Marist, Plainfield North, and Lincoln-Way West.
The two-day competition required consistency across routines, with teams judged on execution, difficulty, and overall performance. Lincoln-Way Central’s ability to advance from prelims and improve its standing in finals reflected steady progress across both days.
The fifth-place finish marked a strong showing for the Knights on the state’s biggest stage and closed the season with a top-tier Class 3A result.
