Lincoln-Way Central delivered a dominant performance at the Glenbard West Chris Chappell Invitational, finishing first in the team standings with 272 points and outpacing a strong 14-team field.
The tournament was held Jan. 10 at Glenbard West High School.
The Knights showcased depth across every weight class, recording multiple finalists and piling up bonus points to separate themselves from runner-up Glenbard West (257 points) and third-place Carmel Catholic (172.5). Lincoln-Way Central placed wrestlers throughout the brackets and consistently advanced deep into medal rounds, building a steady lead as the day progressed.
Several Knights turned in championship-caliber efforts. Brooks McKay captured the title at 120 pounds, going unbeaten and scoring 16 team points, while Jalen Byrd earned first place at 175 with a dominant run that included a technical fall and multiple bonus-point victories. Heavyweight Aiden Hennings added another individual championship at 285, powering through his bracket to collect 16 points for the team.
Lincoln-Way Central also saw strong podium finishes from Connor Richardson, who placed second at 126, and Eric Hoselton, who took third at 138. Bannon Valent added a third-place finish at 106, and Finn Fifer contributed key points with a fifth-place showing at 113, helping the Knights maintain separation in the overall standings.
With multiple champions, finalists, and medalists, Lincoln-Way Central’s balanced lineup and consistent scoring across the weights powered the Knights to the team championship at the Chris Chappell Invitational and continued their momentum through the heart of the season.
