Lincoln-Way Central High School’s boys basketball team is entering the new season with significant momentum and a talented roster. Under the guidance of Coach Brian Flaherty, the team aims to reclaim its status as a regional powerhouse.
The Knights concluded last season with a 22-10 record and are determined to improve upon this performance. The team is focused on asserting dominance in every matchup throughout the winter season.
According to Flaherty, key returning players form the backbone of the lineup. These include seniors Elwood Chesta, Micah Evans, Nathan Gehrke, Nolan Morrill, Daniel Perna, Cooper Riedl, and Andrew Woodburn. Juniors Amari Artis, Nicholas Brzezniak, Luke Jackson, Sawyer Krause, Zackary Lea, Alexander Panos, and Mark Jacob II Ziesmer contribute size, versatility, and scoring potential. This core group brings experience and leadership to guide both upperclassmen and younger players through a demanding schedule.
The program’s 70-year history highlights Lincoln-Way Central’s tradition of excellence. Legendary coaches such as Steve Little and Brad Bounds have led teams to multiple state and regional successes. With disciplined defense, smart offensive execution, and team cohesion, the Knights are well-positioned to control tempo and dominate opponents as they pursue conference supremacy.
