Lincoln-Way Central girls’ varsity volleyball team demonstrated determination on Saturday night, narrowly losing to Waubonsie Valley in a closely contested match at the Great Lakes Center.
According to the final score, 25-22, 26-24, the Knights refused to back down. Senior Ava Birmingham anchored the defense with nine digs and an impressive 2.55 serve receive rating, maintaining competitiveness in every rally. On the offensive side, Kaitlyn Hedrich stood out by tallying 21 assists, three kills, and four digs, showing leadership and versatility that inspired her teammates.
The match highlighted Lincoln-Way Central’s resilience and teamwork despite their narrow loss. Every point was fiercely contested, demonstrating why they are considered a formidable force in girls’ volleyball this season. The team now focuses on their home matchup against Plainfield Central on September 3, aiming to channel their energy into a victory.
