Lincoln-Way Central boys’ volleyball team delivered a decisive performance on the road Wednesday night, narrowly defeating Stagg High School in two sets, both ending 26-24.
According to head coach Mary Brown, the Knights, who now hold a 22-12 overall record and are 5-2 in the Southwest Suburban Conference, demonstrated composure under pressure. Brown praised her team’s resilience and teamwork in what she described as a “good win on the road” against a formidable Chargers squad.
Senior player Colin Alvers played a crucial role in anchoring the Knights’ defense with 12 digs, consistently disrupting Stagg’s offensive efforts. On offense, Ben Pryor contributed significantly with six kills, while Cooper Riedl added four kills and two digs to help secure the victory.
The Knights maintained their composure during extended rallies and tight scores, stepping up at critical moments to clinch each set. The victory underscores Lincoln-Way Central’s growth and determination as they advance toward postseason play. Despite consistent pressure from Stagg throughout the match, they were unable to overcome the Knights’ steady defense and timely hitting.
Lincoln-Way Central is set to return to its home court tonight for its regular-season finale against Sandburg. With momentum on their side, the Knights aim to conclude their season strongly in front of their home supporters.
