Lincoln-Way Central showed toughness and determination Friday night but came up just short in a 17-12 loss to Lincoln-Way West in a spirited rivalry game.
The Knights leaned on their ground attack to keep the offense moving, with several players contributing key rushing yards. Central’s balanced approach allowed them to sustain drives and break through for two second-quarter touchdowns, pulling them within striking distance heading into halftime.
Quarterback play and timely passes gave the Knights opportunities down the field, and the receiving corps made critical catches to extend drives against a steady Warrior defense. Central’s offensive line set the tone with physical play, while the defense stepped up to slow West’s big-play threats and force the Warriors to earn every score.
Although West sealed the game late with a long field goal, Central never backed down. The Knights kept battling into the fourth quarter, showing the kind of resilience and grit that defines the program.
For Central, the night was about competing in a charged atmosphere and proving they could go toe-to-toe with their rivals. The Knights will look to build on this effort as they move deeper into conference play.
