Lincoln-Way Central girls’ basketball team demonstrated a strong defensive effort but was unable to overcome Stagg’s late surge, resulting in a 41–25 road loss.
The game took place on Tuesday, December 2, at Stagg High School in Palos Hills.
According to the game’s details, despite the final score, Lincoln-Way Central maintained a competitive stance throughout the first half by limiting Stagg’s transition opportunities and forcing the Chargers into long possessions. The Knights entered the matchup averaging 41.8 points per game and exhibited periods of efficient ball movement. However, they struggled to convert open looks during crucial moments. Their defensive intensity remained consistent, particularly in the third quarter when they held Stagg below its season scoring average.
Central now holds a record of 2–4 overall and 0–1 in conference play as they continue to show signs of growth while navigating a challenging early schedule. In contrast, Stagg improved to 3–3 overall and 1–0 in league action by capitalizing on a late offensive push that created separation in the final minutes.
The Knights will aim to regroup ahead of their rematch scheduled for January 15, 2026. On this date, Lincoln-Way Central will host Stagg with hopes of reversing the outcome on their home court.
