Lincoln-Way Central’s boys’ water polo team secured a decisive 23-11 victory over Bremen on May 8, marking their final game before the sectional tournament.

Senior player Kegan Koester led the Knights with seven goals, bringing his season total to 121 and surpassing his older brother’s school record of 120 goals in a single season. “It’s something he’s been chasing all year,” head coach Gary Young said. “To see him reach it is a proud moment for all of us.”

According to Young, the win improved Lincoln-Way Central’s overall record to 13-13 as they approach the sectionals. The Knights demonstrated balanced scoring, with Tyler Lambert and Jack Mroz each contributing more than four goals to the team’s total. Lincoln-Way Central maintained a fast pace and controlled possession throughout the match at their home pool, employing a mix of aggressive offense and tight defense to overpower Bremen.

Young praised the team’s chemistry and growth over the season. “We’ve battled all year, and now we’re heading into sectionals with confidence,” he said. The Knights now turn their focus to the sectional tournament, where they aim to carry their momentum into postseason play. Lincoln-Way Central opens sectional competition next week.
