The Lincoln-Way Central girls’ water polo team secured a 10-6 victory over Lincoln-Way West on Wednesday, marking another success in their season under head coach Pam Shaughnessy.

According to Shaughnessy, senior Angelina Platos led the team’s scoring with four goals, setting an early tone for the Knights. Genevieve Dal Ponte contributed three goals, while Sophia Gaier and Molly Olson added two and one goal respectively to complete the team’s offensive performance. “They started the game with high energy and worked together to knock in several goals across the team,” Shaughnessy said. “The defense was fantastic, and we were able to play all members of the team for these games.”

Lincoln-Way Central demonstrated confidence and cohesion throughout the match, allowing them to control the game from start to finish. The victory improved their record to 8-4 as they reached the halfway point of their regular season. Shaughnessy credited the entire roster for their success and refrained from singling out individual players.

“They are all so good. I can’t pick just two or three,” she said.

The Knights are set to host Riverside Brookfield in their upcoming game.
