The Lincoln‑Way Central Knights made their mark at the Lockport Triangular on Tuesday, April 28, showcasing speed and depth across the track.
Senior sprinter Michael Pekovitch led the charge with a personal‑best 11.27 seconds to win the 100 meters, edging teammate Jace Crowhurst by one‑hundredth of a second. Crowhurst bounced back to capture the 200 meters in 23.07, while Alec Demma added a victory in the 400 meters at 53.38.
Distance runners also contributed, with sophomore Colin White clocking a personal‑best 4:48.08 to win the 1600 meters. Central’s middle‑distance crew packed the top five in several events, underscoring the program’s balance. Relay squads and consistent scorers across sprints and distance helped the Knights stay competitive against district rivals Lincoln‑Way East and host Lockport.
While East’s Charlie Palmer dominated the 300‑meter hurdles in 40.10 and Lockport’s throwers claimed top marks in the shot put, Central’s athletes kept the scoreboard tight with steady point production.
The Knights’ combination of sprint firepower and emerging distance talent highlighted their ability to contend in multiple areas. With conference championships looming, the Lockport Tri provided a timely confidence boost and a reminder of Central’s potential to challenge for top honors.
