Knights’ softball shut out St. Charles North behind Dimitrijevich’s dominant outing

Lincoln-Way Central senior Lisabella Dimitrijevich delivered a standout performance, striking out 18 batters and allowing just one hit in a complete-game shutout. The Knights triumphed over St. Charles North with a 4-0 victory on Thursday.

The win occurred on the road against the defending Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 4A state champions. With this victory, the Knights improved their overall record to 21-1 and maintained an unbeaten streak in conference play at 10-0. Dimitrijevich also contributed offensively, going 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Her two-run single in the early innings secured Lincoln-Way Central an early lead that remained unchallenged throughout the game.

According to team statistics, the Knights accumulated seven hits and committed no errors defensively. Kayla Doerre added to the offensive effort with a 2-for-4 performance and scored three runs. Jalese Hays also made a contribution by finishing 1-for-3 with an RBI.

“This was a nice win against the defending state champs in 4A,” said Lincoln-Way Central head coach Jeff Tarala.

The shutout is noted as one of the Knights’ most complete performances of the season, characterized by dominant pitching, solid defense, and timely hitting. Lincoln-Way Central is set to return to action on Friday, May 9, when it hosts Homewood-Flossmoor in another significant conference matchup.
