Lincoln-Way Central Knights fell to the St. Laurence Vikings 55–42 in a girls varsity basketball non‑conference matchup.
The game was played on Thursday, Feb. 12 at Lincoln‑Way Central High School.
Lincoln-Way Central’s performance against St. Laurence on February 12, 2026 reflected both resilience and areas of concern. The Knights struggled to establish offensive rhythm, shooting just 32 percent from the field and 18 percent from beyond the arc, which limited their ability to sustain scoring runs. Despite those challenges, they showed flashes of cohesion, recording 12 assists and moving the ball effectively when their offense clicked.
On the defensive end, Lincoln-Way Central battled hard, collecting 28 rebounds and forcing turnovers with seven steals, but they were outmatched on the glass as St. Laurence controlled second‑chance opportunities with a clear rebounding edge. The Knights’ lone block underscored their difficulty protecting the rim against a disciplined opponent. While the team demonstrated effort and determination, the inability to consistently convert shots and contain the Vikings’ balanced attack highlighted the gap they need to close. Entering postseason play, the Knights face the challenge of tightening execution and finding more reliable scoring options.
