Lincoln-Way Central secured a third-place finish with 206 points at the Edwardsville Invitational, trailing only Edwardsville with 335 points and Naperville Central with 233 points in a competitive field on Saturday.
The meet took place on October 4 at Edwardsville High School, drawing top girls’ swimming and diving programs from across Illinois.
According to the event results, senior standout Hannah Quigley led the Knights with a gold medal and three silvers, earning a total of 29 points. Sophomore Emma Rapcan impressed with runner-up finishes in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events. Senior Genevieve Dal Ponte added consistent silver-medal performances in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke. The trio anchored a deep Lincoln-Way Central lineup that showcased balance and determination throughout the meet. The Knights’ cumulative National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) score of 106.5 reflected their steady excellence across all events.
Looking ahead, Lincoln-Way Central will travel to the Lincoln-Way West Dual on Thursday at 5 p.m., followed by the Southwest Suburban Conference (SWSC) Meet on Saturday morning at Sandburg High School.
In their previous matchup with Edwardsville last season, Lincoln-Way Central narrowly lost, 221–209. However, they have since shown significant improvement in overall depth and point production—positioning themselves as a rising contender heading into the postseason.
