Lincoln-Way Central used an offensive surge for a 13–6 victory over Joliet Catholic in a boys varsity baseball non-conference matchup.
The game, played on March 25 at Lincoln-Way Central High School, saw the Knights use an offensive surge to overcome their opponents. The Knights tallied sixteen hits and produced multiple big innings, including a five-run second and three-run third inning that shifted momentum in their favor. Senior Luke Tingley went 5-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs, while senior Austin Welsh contributed by going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a double. Tyler Arnold pitched three scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out one batter. Will Kedzior also struck out three batters over three innings. The team’s fielding was described as clean and reliable, limiting errors and cutting off potential scoring chances to maintain control.
The outcome brings Lincoln-Way Central’s overall record to 3-3 as they prepare for their next non-conference game against Hinsdale Central on April 7 at Providence Catholic High School, according to MaxPreps. No previous varsity baseball match has been recorded by MaxPreps between the Knights and the Hinsdale Central Red Devils.
Lincoln-Way Central High School serves grades 9 through 12 with an enrollment of 1,968 students during the 2019-2020 school year and is located in New Lenox within Will County. Of these students, grade 11 had the highest concentration at 23.5 percent; grade 12 accounted for 23.2 percent; grade 10 made up 23.1 percent; and grade 9 comprised 21.4 percent of enrollment.
According to the Illinois Report Card, Lincoln-Way Central High School’s student body was composed of approximately 85.6 percent white students, with black students making up 1.6 percent, Hispanic students accounting for 9.5 percent, and Asian students representing another 1.6 percent during the same period.
