Lincoln-Way Central girls soccer stayed unbeaten Thursday, defeating Lincoln-Way East 3-2 in a shootout after a scoreless regulation in a tightly contested nonconference matchup.
The match took place April 16 at Lincoln-Way East High School, where both teams battled through 80 minutes without a goal before the Knights secured the win in penalty kicks.
Lincoln-Way Central relied on its defense throughout the match, holding Lincoln-Way East scoreless and limiting clean scoring chances. The back line remained organized and composed, consistently clearing dangerous opportunities and maintaining control in key moments of the match.
Offensively, the Knights created pressure but were unable to break through during regulation. Flynn Meyer helped lead the attack, generating chances and keeping possession in the offensive third. Lincoln-Way Central continued to push forward with consistent effort, but both teams remained locked in a defensive battle throughout the contest.
The match ultimately came down to penalty kicks, where the Knights showed composure under pressure. Lincoln-Way Central converted key attempts in the shootout to secure the 3-2 advantage and the victory.
With the win, Lincoln-Way Central improved to 11-0 on the season, continuing its strong run with another hard-fought result against a competitive opponent.
