NEW LENOX, Ill. — The Lincoln-Way Central boys golf team heads into 2025 with a strong returning group and high expectations.
Head coach Ryan Pohlmann said last season’s roster, made up primarily of sophomores and juniors, proved itself by finishing third in conference play and sending two golfers to the state tournament. With only one senior lost to graduation, the Knights bring back nearly the entire lineup.
“We feel like this team has unlimited potential,” Pohlmann said. “We can win tournaments, compete for regionals and sectionals, and possibly make some noise at state.”
Senior standout Connor Kelch anchors the group, joined by teammates who now have valuable postseason experience. Pohlmann believes that maturity and added summer competition will push the team forward.
Key midseason tournaments, including the Providence Invite and the Will County Amateur, will serve as measuring sticks for the Knights. “Those events are like mini state tournaments,” Pohlmann said. “They’ll show us where we stand.”
With depth, experience, and confidence, Lincoln-Way Central believes it can compete with Illinois’ best in 2025.
