The Lincoln-Way Central boys golf team is preparing for the 2025 season with a strong returning group and high expectations.
According to head coach Ryan Pohlmann, last season’s roster, composed mainly of sophomores and juniors, demonstrated its capabilities by finishing third in conference play and sending two golfers to the state tournament. With only one senior lost to graduation, the Knights will return nearly their entire lineup. “We feel like this team has unlimited potential,” Pohlmann said. “We can win tournaments, compete for regionals and sectionals, and possibly make some noise at state.”
Senior standout Connor Kelch will anchor the group, joined by teammates who now possess valuable postseason experience. Pohlmann believes that maturity and additional summer competition will propel the team forward.
Key midseason tournaments, including the Providence Invite and the Will County Amateur, are expected to serve as benchmarks for the Knights. “Those events are like mini state tournaments,” Pohlmann said. “They’ll show us where we stand.” With depth, experience, and confidence, Lincoln-Way Central aims to compete with Illinois’ best in 2025.
