Knights Golf Seeks Return to State

NEW LENOX, Ill. — Lincoln-Way Central girls golf came close to a state berth last fall, placing second at regionals and advancing to sectionals before falling just short. Head coach Bob Curran believes the Knights are in position to take the next step in 2025.

“We only lost one senior, so we return four to five players who know what the grind of the season feels like,” Curran said. “We’re optimistic we can be really good this year.”

The Knights’ lone senior, Kristen Koll, will lead a roster packed with juniors. Curran said her experience and leadership will be vital during the team’s seven-week sprint. “They’ve been through sectionals and know what it takes,” he said.

Koll said her goals are simple: confidence and teamwork. “Golf is individual, but at the high school level it’s also a team sport,” she said. “Supporting each other is key.”

Juniors Sophie De Vries and Taylor Bush said consistency and mental strength are their focus. “I want to place more in Saturday tournaments and keep up team spirit,” De Vries said. Bush added she hopes to shoot more consistent scores.

Curran said the Knights’ top priority remains clear: “Get downstate.”
