Lincoln-Way Central girls’ golf team narrowly missed a state berth last fall, finishing second at regionals and advancing to sectionals before falling short.
Head coach Bob Curran believes the Knights are poised to advance further in 2025. “We only lost one senior, so we return four to five players who know what the grind of the season feels like,” Curran said. “We’re optimistic we can be really good this year.”
The team’s sole senior, Kristen Koll, will lead a roster primarily composed of juniors. Curran emphasized that her experience and leadership will be crucial during the team’s seven-week competitive period. “They’ve been through sectionals and know what it takes,” he said.
Koll expressed that her goals are centered on confidence and teamwork. “Golf is individual, but at the high school level it’s also a team sport,” she said. “Supporting each other is key.”
Juniors Sophie De Vries and Taylor Bush highlighted their focus on consistency and mental strength. According to De Vries, “I want to place more in Saturday tournaments and keep up team spirit.” Bush added that she hopes to achieve more consistent scores.
Curran reiterated that the Knights’ primary objective remains clear: “Get downstate.”
