The Lincoln-Way Central football program is once again setting its sights on November, aiming for a successful playoff run.
According to head coach Woodburn, the team’s objective is straightforward: consistent growth leading to another deep playoff run. “We’re not trying to look too far ahead, but the expectation is to give ourselves a chance to compete with the best teams in the state,” he said. Assistant coach Mitch Nowicki emphasized that weekly improvement remains their focus. “We’ve done a great job of not getting too far ahead of ourselves,” Nowicki said. “If we keep building, we’ll play our best football in November.”
For the seniors on the team, there is a clear sense of urgency. Tingley expressed his enthusiasm about concluding his career alongside teammates he regards as family. “We’re very close, and that helps a lot on the field,” Tingley remarked. Sammon and Anderson highlighted their unfinished business following last year’s semifinal loss. “We’ve got a lot left to prove,” Anderson noted.
With a roster driven by seniors and enriched with playoff experience, the Knights are confident they possess the necessary components to advance toward a state championship appearance.
