The Lincoln-Way Central Knights fell to the Oswego East Wolves 55-45 in the Warrior Basketball Showdown on Saturday afternoon.
The game occurred on January 31 at Lincoln-Way West High School.
According to reports, the Knights struggled against Oswego East’s offensive prowess, managing a field goal percentage of 45% compared to the Wolves’ 56%. Lincoln-Way Central faced difficulties from beyond the arc, achieving only 22% of their three-point attempts, while Oswego East succeeded with 43%. The Knights were outrebounded 17-28, which limited their opportunities for second-chance points. Despite matching the Wolves in assists with 11 each and generating nine steals, Lincoln-Way Central’s performance at the free-throw line (56%) was not enough to overcome Oswego East’s superior shooting and rebounding.
Lincoln-Way Central is set to host Comer on Monday, February 9, at 6:30 PM. The Knights currently hold a record of 17-8, while Comer stands at 4-17. This will be the first meeting between these two teams.
Lincoln-Way Central High School, located in New Lenox within Will County, had an enrollment of 1,968 students during the 2019-2020 school year for grades nine through twelve. According to data from the Illinois Report Card, grade eleven had the highest concentration of students at 23.5%, followed by grade twelve at 23.2%, grade ten at 23.1%, and grade nine at 21.4%.
The Illinois Report Card also indicates that during this period, Lincoln-Way Central High School’s student body was composed of approximately 85.6% white students, with black and Asian students each making up about 1.6%, and Hispanic students accounting for roughly 9.5%.
