Lincoln-Way Central secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Lockport in a closely contested away game on Wednesday. This win improved their season record to 11-6, with notable contributions from players Luke Mensik and Liam Arsich.
Mensik delivered a strong performance by pitching six shutout innings, striking out three batters, and keeping the Porters scoreless early in the game. Arsich played a crucial role by closing the seventh inning to earn the save, adding one strikeout, and hitting a decisive solo home run in the fifth inning. He ended the day with one hit in three at-bats.
According to head coach Ryan Kutt, “Luke kept us in the game from the beginning and Liam helped put us ahead for good.” The Knights managed to score all three of their runs by the fifth inning and successfully fended off a late push from Lockport to secure their victory at Lockport High School. The combination of effective pitching and timely hitting was key to Lincoln-Way Central’s success under pressure.
Looking ahead, Lincoln-Way Central is set to return home on Saturday, May 3, for a nonconference matchup against Lake Central. The team aims to maintain its momentum as they approach the end of the regular season and prepare for postseason play. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. in New Lenox.
