The Lincoln-Way Central Knights fell to the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings 61-55 in a road conference matchup.
According to the game statistics, the Knights executed efficiently on offense, achieving a shooting percentage of 53% from the field and recording 17 assists compared to Homewood-Flossmoor’s 12. Defensively, Lincoln-Way Central made six steals and two blocks, maintaining pressure on the Vikings throughout the night. However, they faced challenges in rebounding, being out-rebounded 29-22, and struggled at the free-throw line with a conversion rate of just 25%. Despite their strong shooting performance and solid ball movement, these missed opportunities contributed to their six-point loss.
Lincoln-Way Central is preparing for its first-ever nonconference matchup against Comer on Monday, February 9. The Knights aim to set an early tone against this new opponent as they build momentum through their February schedule.
Lincoln-Way Central High School is located in New Lenox within Will County and serves grades 9 to 12. During the 2019-2020 school year, it had an enrollment of 1,968 students. According to the Illinois Report Card, grade 11 had the highest concentration of students at 23.5%, followed by grade 12 at 23.2%, grade 10 at 23.1%, and grade 9 at 21.4%. The student body was composed of approximately 85.6% white students, with smaller percentages of black (1.6%), Hispanic (9.5%), and Asian (1.6%) students.
