Knights compete at IHSA boys swimming state meet

Lincoln-Way Central’s boys swimming team closed out its season by competing at the IHSA Boys State Championship against the top swimmers from across Illinois.

The state meet took place Feb. 27–28 at FMC Natatorium in Westmont, where several Knights qualified to represent Lincoln-Way Central on the state stage.

Dominic DiForti led the Knights with strong performances in two distance freestyle events. DiForti placed 21st in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:42.46 and also competed in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:44.87.

Souya Kubota competed in two events as well for Lincoln-Way Central. Kubota recorded a time of 59.53 in the 100-yard breaststroke and also swam the 200-yard individual medley, finishing with a time of 2:00.70.

Jack Mroz represented the Knights in sprint events, posting a time of 48.23 in the 100-yard freestyle and 24.75 in the 50-yard backstroke.

Dylan Ragland also competed for Lincoln-Way Central, finishing the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.36.

The Knights’ presence at the IHSA state finals capped a strong season for Lincoln-Way Central swimming and gave several athletes the opportunity to compete against the best swimmers in the state.
