Lincoln-Way Central’s boys basketball season came to an end with a 50-40 loss to Brother Rice in IHSA regional play.
The postseason matchup took place Feb. 27 as part of the IHSA state tournament, where the Knights competed in a tightly contested game before Brother Rice pulled away late to secure the win.
Lincoln-Way Central showed resilience throughout the contest. The Knights trailed 18-9 after the first quarter but responded with a strong second quarter run, rallying to tie the game at 24-24 before halftime. The teams remained close through the third quarter, with the Knights cutting the deficit to 28-28 and later 31-30 before Brother Rice regained control.
Lincoln-Way Central continued to battle in the fourth quarter, trimming the lead to six points at 46-40 before Brother Rice closed out the game.
The Knights finished the season with a 21-11 overall record and a 10-6 mark in the Southwest Suburban Conference. Lincoln-Way Central’s roster featured Alex Panos, Amari Artis, Andrew McIntyre, Cooper Riedl, Desmond Gill, Drew Woodburn, Elwood Chesta, Luke Jackson, Mark Ziesmer, Micah Evans, Nate Gehrke, Nick Brzezniak, Nolan Morrill, Sawyer Krause, Yousef Tadros and Zackary Lea.
The season-ending regional appearance capped a strong campaign for the Knights, highlighted by consistent play in conference competition and a deep postseason push.
