Lincoln-Way Central junior guard Brooke Katzmann continues to be a key all-around contributor for the Knights, providing energy on both ends of the floor as the team pushes through the heart of conference play.
Katzmann, a Class of 2026 shooting guard, has consistently made her presence felt through hustle plays, defensive pressure and timely scoring. Her ability to anticipate passing lanes and finish in transition has shown up throughout the season, highlighted by multiple games with several steals and fast-break conversions against strong competition, including Lockport, Carl Sandburg, Stagg, Marist and Naperville North.
That two-way impact was on display in the Knights’ 43-37 win over Lincoln-Way West on Jan. 27, when Central controlled the tempo with disciplined defense and physical rebounding. Katzmann recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, helping the Knights limit second-chance opportunities and create extra possessions at the offensive end. Her work on the glass, especially from the guard spot, set the tone in a low-scoring, physical contest that required effort on every possession.
Beyond the box score, Katzmann’s consistency has helped stabilize the backcourt rotation, whether applying ball pressure, spacing the floor or pushing the pace in transition. As the season continues, the Knights will look for that same blend of defense, rebounding and scoring from their junior guard as they prepare for the final stretch of conference play and the upcoming postseason.
