Lincoln-Way Central senior Jack Wallace is focused on building off last year’s success as he works to move up the Knights’ doubles lineup this season.
Wallace and his partner earned third place in conference play last season, a result he hopes to improve upon as he prepares for his final campaign.
“We got third place last year,” Wallace said. “We’re going for first this year and hoping to make some noise.”
Primarily a doubles player, Wallace prefers the format because of the energy and support that comes from competing alongside a trusted partner.
“I like doubles better because you have someone there with you,” he said. “It’s easier to keep your energy up and bring each other up during matches.”
Wallace has also played singles occasionally, but he noted that competing alone presents a different challenge both mentally and physically.
Beyond individual goals, Wallace credited the team’s coach with creating a positive atmosphere that keeps players motivated throughout the season.
“He brings a lot of energy and makes the season fun,” Wallace said. “He also helps bring the team together when we’re losing.”
With experience, chemistry, and a focus on improvement, Wallace aims to help Lincoln-Way Central contend for conference success while finishing his high school career on a strong note.
