Lincoln-Way Central girls basketball dropped a 48–36 decision to Homewood-Flossmoor in a conference matchup.
The game took place on Jan. 3 at Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor.
Homewood-Flossmoor built separation early, outscoring the LWC girls 31–17 in the first half. The Vikings opened a five-point lead after the first quarter and extended the margin in the second behind consistent defensive pressure and efficient scoring.
The LWC girls responded coming out of halftime, scoring 11 points in the third quarter while working to cut into the deficit. Brooke Katzmann led the effort by attacking the lane and converting at the free-throw line, adding multiple field goals during the stretch. Lincoln-Way Central continued to compete into the fourth quarter but was unable to close the gap as Homewood-Flossmoor answered key possessions late.
Katzmann finished as one of the primary contributors for the LWC girls, while Katie Barrett, Scarlett Abramowicz, and Nicole Demma each added points during second-half runs. Aubrey Birmingham connected on a three-pointer in the second quarter to help keep Lincoln-Way Central within range before halftime.
