Lincoln-Way Central’s Aiden Hennings placed second at the IHSA Sectional, delivering a strong postseason performance for the Knights.
The sectional was held Feb. 14 at 9 a.m., as wrestlers competed in postseason action for the opportunity to advance to the IHSA State Finals in Champaign.
Hennings put together an impressive run through the early rounds of the bracket. In the quarterfinals, he earned a technical fall victory, 19–2, in 3:27, setting the tone with steady pressure and controlled scoring. He followed that performance in the semifinals with another technical fall, defeating his opponent 16–1 in 2:40 to secure his spot in the championship match. Throughout the day, Hennings wrestled with confidence and pace, dictating position and capitalizing on scoring opportunities to keep his season moving forward.
In the 1st-place match, Hennings faced Lincoln-Way East’s J. Rulo and fell by pin at the 0:13 mark, finishing as sectional runner-up after a hard-fought day of competition.
With the second-place finish, Hennings advances out of the sectional and will compete at the 2026 IHSA Boys Individual Wrestling State Finals, scheduled for Feb. 19–21 at the State Farm Center in Champaign, representing Lincoln-Way Central on the state stage.
