Lincoln-Way Central’s girls’ water polo team secured a decisive 13–2 victory over Neuqua Valley on April 14, enhancing their season record to 11–4.
The Knights, under the leadership of head coach Pam Shaughnessy, established control early in the game at their home pool. Senior Angelina Platos spearheaded the offense with five goals, setting the tone for the team’s dominant performance. According to Shaughnessy, Sophia Gaier contributed four goals, while Genevieve Dalponte added two. Molly Olson and Jaylyn Kucera each scored one goal, completing a well-rounded offensive effort.
Shaughnessy also noted that Lincoln-Way Central’s defense played a crucial role by limiting Neuqua Valley to just two goals over four quarters. The Knights consistently disrupted passing lanes and prevented high-percentage scoring opportunities.
The victory marks a strong period for the Knights as they build momentum heading into the final weeks of the regular season. With steady offensive production and a formidable defense, the team appears ready for a successful postseason run.
Lincoln-Way Central is set to return to action on April 15 with an away game against Homewood-Flossmoor.
